Thanksgiving

By Nell Berry

The summer has come and gone,

Fall is here and winter's comin' on.

There's a slight chill in the frosty air.

Soon we will gather together with friends and family,

to share a turkey, with dressing and pumpkin pie

and all the Thanksgiving fare.

Wherever we decide to meet,

no matter the county, city or street,

we want to thank the Lord above,

for His manifold mercies, and the gift of His love.

Dear Lord, we come together this Thanksgiving Day,

to give You thanks and praise You,

in all we do and say.

For everything You've done for us,

for what You're going to do.

For family, friends and acquaintances,

we ask Your blessing too.

Our hearts are full of gratitude,

for bringing us through this year.

Though our natural inclination,

is to stay at home in fear.

We ask Your guidance and protection,

and seek Your will and way.

We want to bless Your name, dear Lord,

on this Thanksgiving Day.

Amen
