I greatly appreciate the work you are doing! There are
so many days when I am struggling in a particular area and
the devotion that day deals with that very thing. Sometimes
I must admit that I don't want to hear it. I would rather
pout and not have to take responsibility, but my God loves
me too much to let me do that! He uses you when no one else
can reach me. I guess because you don't know me and so I
know it comes from God and not just someone who knows what I
am going through and can come back at me with the Word they
may know I need. You have no idea and so what you send may
be hard sometimes for me to read and accept but there is no
doubt where it comes from! Thank You!

I was born and raised in Washington DC, Feb, 28 1961My
Mother was, Carrie L Wilson, And My Father was, Matthew
Wilson. I have 3 sister's, and 3 brothers, and I'm the baby
of the family. I grew up in a dysfunctional house hold,
where there was constancy arguing and fussing with brothers
and sisters. Watching my father beat on my mother, and have
a relationship with another woman, in North Carolina and for
years I thought she was family.. He left my mother when I
was only 10 years old. And after that there was alcohol and
beer drinking in the home, with family and friends. So at a
tender age of thirteen the hell in my life began. I started
smoking cigarettes, and my mother was drinking and high she
was unable to watch what I was doing. So it was easy to do
what ever I wanted, started to smoke Weed to get high. And
looking for ways to get the drug, started stealing from the
home and breaking into the neighbors houses, and taking
anything that would sell. Loss respect for others, just
wanted to get high, Drop out of high school. Making two kids
by two different girls at this time I was around 18 years
old, Now I have kids, and I would go to work but would spend
the money on drugs and alcohol, now I'm at my worst. So a
few years went by of doing this, the next thing I knew here
comes the Cocaine. And at this time I'm around 25 or 26 and
then came the all time low. Started to lose relationships
with family and friends, Kids Mother and getting jobs and
losing jobs. Getting put out everywhere I go, from
apartments and rooms, friends and family. Sleeping in
abandon cars, abandon houses. It got to a point in my life
where I would go to hospitals and sleep in the emergency
room and wake up and steal food off the carts that was for
the patients. Still getting jobs and loosing jobs, and still
giving my money to the drugs guys and this went on for more
years, So the next thing I knew I was around 34 years old.
At this time I was working at the Washington Sheraton hotel
in Washington, Still doing the drugs and alcohol. Till one
day on May 27th 1995 at the hotel where I worked, I meet
this woman who was at the hotel for a 3 day church
conference, and the conference was Praise Power...So we
exchange phone numbers, and we would talk on the phone, till
I started to come to her home town which was in Delaware.
The next thing I knew in about 8 months I decided to move to
Delaware to be with this woman. I started to Join her Church
and get delivered, Now to this day I'm 6 years alcohol and
drug free. because I made God head of my life, And I'm in
church faithfully, I NOW REALIZE, that God is of a second
chance, I'm now Married have a home with my wife and were
having a time in the lord. I know that now I'm chosen in the
lord, and it all was a test of my faith with god, if you
always do, what you always done, you will always be where
you always been, I had to chose, and I chose god and I'm so
Grateful.

I have an
idea for you...what about Daily Devotion for children? We
can use them daily for a quick family devotion. I am so
blessed by your devotions. They are different than any other
before because they are right in front of our busy schedules
and they are through this computer that can be used for so
much bad in this world. What a blessing to see everyday for
some people even at their work where there might not be any
other believers.

I am a US Army Veteran, a Law Enforcement Official
(1976-1995 Full-Time Police Veteran), presently a Full-Time
Corrections Officer for the State of Michigan and a
Part-Time Police Officer in SW Michigan. I am also a poetic
author having authored the book Inspirational Poems from the
heart of a cop. I am writing you as a poet. Tragedy or
triumph has always stirred the hearts of poets to try and
explain the past, present or future in a simple, encouraging
and inspiring way. Last Christmas I was contacted by a
Dallas Newspaper and asked if I would write a poem honoring
public servants. I wrote the below poem Beyond A Christmas
Day. I received countless e-mails wanting permission to post
this poem on web sites and bulletin boards around the nation
and Canada. I granted permission and received several
e-mails from public servants blessed by it. After the events
of September 11th, 2001 I believe Beyond A Christmas Day
will bless public servants and their loved ones this year.
If you find the below poems a blessing, then God has used
this poet to bless you also.
Thanks for your time and God Bless You.
Always Thankful, The Christian Cop, Officer Bill Heffner
