A Thanksgiving Prayer

Author: the Holy Spirit & Nell

10/18/01

We gather together on this day of Thanksgiving,

we give thanks, Oh God, for your mercies unending.

We come asking forgiveness for our sins;

our behavior,

we come in the precious name of our Lord and Savior.

We ask, Oh Lord, that your hand be extended,

to those precious souls whose lives were ended,

in the tragic events of Sept. 11, and we pray

you mercifully received them into Heaven.

Our prayers are also for those left behind,

please comfort them and bless their lives.

As we so often do, Lord,

we humbly bow and petition you.

 Hear our prayers.

Please, Lord, do not remove,

your hand of protection from the country we love.

Hear us, Oh God. Our hearts are breaking.

Give us your blessing, not ever forsaking.

Our heads are hung low, we fervently pray.

We give thanks to you, Blessed Lord,

 this Thanksgiving Day
