~ Depression ~
Shaped Into Humility

By LaDonna J. Brown

It moves in low and thick, like a dark nimbus cloud,
Enclosing me, saying no more victories allowed

I slowly withdraw from family and friends,
Unable to move, unable to bend

I'm pressed down by this weight,
I can't lift my head

I can't spread my shoulders.
Unable to roll myself out of bed

My eyes are blinded by frustration,
I can't see the Vision

My ears are deafened by great emotion,
I can't hear Him calling me

I'm robbed of my voice, I can't shout out to ask
Your help, My physical strength is gone,
Because I'm drained from my own vulnerability

Rescue me from my self-centeredness
Help me focus on You,
Bring me into Your center, as only You can do,
Because I know - my victories will never come,
Unless I allow You to enter

God is our ever present help. He gives us a hope and a future.
Unlikely as it may sound, depression can be looked upon as
a "humbling" experience. Reflecting on the Bible's history of
God's infinite goodness to his children can be a true
remedy for depression.

When you find yourself on the road to depression - remember
Psalms 42:5-6
"Why are you so downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will
Yet praise him, my Savior and my God."
