But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son threw his arms around him and kissed him.
Luke 15:20

Some view God as being so stern and rigid, that if they turn their back on Him to go their own direction, there is no returning. It is certainly true, that there is plenty of trouble and heartache to be found, when we walk out from under the protection and care of our Father. But just like the prodigal son, He is watching for us to come walking down the road and back into His arms, and we will most certainly return, as sin quickly loses its appeal and leaves nothing but a bitter taste in our mouths. We have become so accustomed to conditional love; love based on performance, it leaves us too often feeling that when we mess up it's over. Failure is only permanent when we refuse to get up and try again. God's mercy is greater than our sin. He won't turn you away, but instead bring you once again to His table. There is no need to continue wasting your inheritance. Return to the love and security you've known in your Father's house.

Prayer

Thank you for Your unconditional love and mercy. I am not worthy of it, but still You have extended it to me. Forgive me for walking away from the everlasting love and security I have received from You. Amen.
