For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12

When we go to Church and hear God’s word, we are not simply spectators. It is not a lecture we are attending, we are participants and gathered for worship. The presentation of the sermon is not as important as how hungry we are to receive it. To some it may seem boring and lengthy, their minds may wander to the upcoming events of the day. Sitting in a service when our heart is not in it, is a waste of time. If we show up expecting to receive nourishment, we will be disappointed. If we arrive prepared to worship, we can be assured we will walk out that door changed, and ready to meet the challenges that lie ahead. The word of God, regardless of how it is presented, will accomplish in us exactly what He desires, if we will receive it.

Prayer

I come to worship and to feed on your word. Holy Spirit speak your truth to my heart. I am listening with anticipation, and eager to receive. Give me wisdom, teach me Your ways. In Jesus name I ask, Amen.
