Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?
Isaiah 43:18-19

When someone hurts us, the pain does not necessarily stop when we make a choice to forgive. Those memories reappear time and time again to haunt and taunt us. I have heard many times the famous phrase, "I can forgive but I can't forget". Fact is, we can and should, forget. Each time we relive the memories, we also experience, not only the pain, but the anger and bitterness. We end up running in a vicious circle regressing, instead of progressing. We find ourselves back in the past and dealing with the same emotions. It is time to forgive, and forget, and move on to new things, and reach the new heights where God desires to take us. If we will keep our minds focused on today, anticipating tomorrow, yesterday will be more easily forgotten. With God all things are possible, and forgetting is one of them.

Prayer

I desire the new things you are bringing into my life. Help me to keep my mind on today, letting go of yesterday. Give me the strength I need today, to forgive and to forget.
