Martha,
Martha, the Lord answered, you are worried and upset about
many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen
what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.
Luke 10: 41-42
Many
times in our spiritual journey we begin to focus so much on
what "we" are doing that we lose sight of our
original purpose, as well as God. Our passion and desire to
please God, gets placed on the back burner while our feeble
efforts leave us tired and disappointed. Jesus has saved us;
He displayed His love for us with the sacrifice of His life.
He desires to have intimate companionship with us. When we
become more focused on our feelings and circumstance, that are
constantly changing, we soon discover the relationship and the
love begin to diminish. If we want to keep the passion in our
relationship with Jesus, we need to remain focused on Him, not
our ministries, circumstance, and feelings. Constantly seeking
to know more of Him, His ways, His love and His word, will
leave us little time to become consumed with worrisome things.
He enables us to do what He has appointed us to do, and He
will guide us down the path He has chosen. Our relationship
with Him is the “better” which cannot be taken away.
Prayer
I
choose today to focus on You, and to follow the path You have
chosen for me. There is nothing more important in my day, than
the intimate and quiet moments I spend with You. Revive the
passion in my heart, restore my relationship with You. In
Jesus name, Amen.
