Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled
from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because
they were afraid.
Mark 16:8
What an
overwhelming sight to arrive at the tomb of Jesus and
find it empty. They had accepted His death and were
mourning, but when they were unexpectedly confronted
with His resurrection they were afraid of what might
follow. Our reaction to God’s power and glory are
much the same. We have thoughts and ideas about how He
works and become afraid when confronted with the
miraculous. It seems safer for us to attempt to keep
God contained within our own ideas of Him instead of
realizing the miracle of Who He is and What He is
doing and accept it. Reality goes beyond what we can
see, hear, feel, and even understand. Jesus is our
reality and He desires to set us free from the walls
that confine us. If we will commit to follow and serve
Him with all that we are, the difference will
certainly be noticeable, and will require no
explanation. He endured the horror of the cross; His
heart broke as His love poured a path for us to walk.
We no longer mourn, but rejoice because His
resurrection has given us life. There is no greater
love than what Jesus gave so willingly, and no greater
call than for us to serve Him completely.
Prayer
Open the eyes of
our hearts Lord; we long to see the miraculous work of
your hand in our lives. We rejoice in your
resurrection. Victory is sweet and you have given us
victory through the love you displayed on the cross.
With our whole hearts we commit to your service today.
Thank you Jesus. Amen.
