But thou, O Lord art a God
full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in
mercy, and truth.
Psalm 86:15
Each day is an opportunity for
a new beginning. Regardless of what happened in our past we have the
opportunity to receive forgiveness and mercy and begin again. There
are things we may regret, although we can’t change the past, we
can be changed. God is full of mercy, and so patient with us. He is
not waiting to pounce on us as soon as we mess up. Instead He longs
to gather us up in His arms renewing our Spirits and restoring our
lives. We may fall, but the real danger lies in remaining down and
allowing self-pity to consume us as it holds us hostage in our past.
Everyone occasionally trips and falls but we have a choice to remain
down or allow God to lift us up and send us soaring again.
Prayer
You are faithful Lord; because
You are merciful we have hope for a new day. We ask you today to
forgive us and lift us up with Your unfailing love. Renew our hearts
and our minds, refreshing our souls. Yesterday is gone and today is
a new day. Thank you for your compassion and love. We praise Your
Holy name, today and forever. Amen.
