This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.
Genesis 2:23

The institution of marriage has been under extreme attack for quite some time. There are many who live day after day, not enjoying or receiving the wonderful benefits from the marriage union. God created marriage, and it is a valuable and sacred union. It can be wonderful, or miserable, depending on how much each are willing to contribute and commit to building it on the principles that God has designed. Marriage was God’s idea, and His ways are perfect. When we speak the vows of commitment, we are saying we will forsake all others, giving ourselves totally to our mates, until death do us part. The reality tells a much different story," I will marry you and work you into my life, schedule, friendships, and what I want to do with my life. If it turns out that you don’t fit, goodbye." God’s idea of marriage couldn’t be more contrary. It is not about working your partner into your life, but realizing, after God, they are your life. Marriage isn’t easy, it requires work and commitment, unconditional love, mercy, and protecting and caring for the others needs, above our own. Quite a commitment, and not to be taken lightly, but once the commitment is made, it should be taken seriously. Whether our marriages seem to be strong and thriving, or weak and failing, there is always room for improvement, and always hope for it to be better.

Prayer

Lord God, I ask You to strengthen and restore marriages today. Give us the wisdom to walk in Your example and to realize the importance of the marriage union. We ask that You be a part of our marriages, we include You in all the discussions, and decisions. We commit our marriages to You today and ask that You design them by Your hand so that they may be all that You desire for them to be. In Jesus name we ask. Amen.
