If
we love one another, God dwelleth in us and his love
is perfected in us.
1 John 4:12-13
There
is more to being Christ like than imitating Jesus. He
must be in us; His patience, His love, His holiness,
His faith, His purity; all revealing themselves
through our lives. It is His perfect characteristics,
working through us, that make a difference. We cannot
simply try to do things to imitate Him, but we must
allow Him to be in us, and His love to love through
us. It has to be genuinely Christ and not us. Jesus’
life on Earth was a reflection of the Father. It was
His holiness, purity and love, which overflowed into
the lives of those that were hurting. He brought
healing and comfort to them. It wasn’t something He
practiced; it naturally flowed from His life to those
who came in contact with Him. It is good for us to
evaluate what motivates us to serve Christ. Do we
consider it a duty or do we consider it all joy? If it
is a joy, it is because we desire an intimate
relationship with Him, and His love abides within us.
We love with His love. All we do that is pure, holy,
right and good is from Him. God created us for
Himself, and He desires a relationship with us. We are
free to love Him for all He is, and all He has done,
and all He will do. Each day is a new opportunity for
us to express our love to Him, and to let His love
overflow from our lives to others.
Prayer
The
more I know of you Lord, the more I love you. I am in
awe of the love you have shown. Allow me today to be a
representative of your love to others. You dwelling in
me! What an overwhelming thought. Allow your love and
holiness to flow through my life to others. Perfect
your love in me. Amen.
