Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!
Psalm 27:14

Waiting seems easy enough, but in the midst of disturbing events the hours pass like days, and days like months. We don’t seem to know which way to go or what to do. We feel like running away, or rushing to make our next move. Our desire to resolve our troubles on our own proves only to be a setback. We can’t imagine that God wants us to wait. Waiting in difficult times can be excruciating. While God understands our desperate pleadings, He desires that we continue to place our confidence and trust in Him, regardless of how long the wait. Trusting that we are moving forward to new things that He desires for us. We certainly don’t want to find ourselves muttering and grumbling like the children of Israel, but rather hoping and trusting that the Promised Land is just over the mountain and we will get there in perfect time.

Prayer

Forgive us for our rebellious attitudes. When the days seem long, blending one into another, give us the wisdom and the strength to wait for you to fulfill Your promise. We wait, with patience and faith, in Your ability to move us up and over the mountain we face, bringing us to the new place you desire for us to be. In Jesus name. Amen.
