My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.
Hebrews 12:5-6

Any good parent will punish a child who is rebellious and disobedient. A tried and true method is time in the corner. Children seldom thank their parents for sending them to do their time in the corner. It is only years down the road when they have matured, that they begin to see the wisdom and love in the correction. For them it is humiliating and lonely. But they are never really alone. Their family is there and ready to embrace them again, and reassure them that they are forgiven. Most of us have spent time in the corner spiritually as well. God is a good Father, and when His children rebel and are disobedient, we can expect that God will correct, not for His own satisfaction but for our benefit. . The humiliation and loneliness of the corner is temporary, and we can be assured that God is ready to forgive and embrace us once again. The more our relationship with our Heavenly Father grows and matures, the more we will see the wisdom and appreciate our time in the corner.

Prayer

I thank you for your continual unconditional love. Your mercy is greater than my faults. I am proud to be your child and will receive your loving correction. Remove all that would block the flow of your love in my life. As my relationship with you grows, I am realizing the love in my corner time. Amen.
