And if
it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this
day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served
that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the
Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we
will serve the Lord."
Joshua 24:15
Freedom
allows for tolerance; for people to live together in peace and to
choose to believe or not to believe in God; or to make a choice to
worship and believe in any god they choose. We too easily become
offended at anyone who does not have an understanding of the truth
as we may. The Spirit of the one and only True and Living God is the
only one who can ultimately bring anyone to the understanding and
knowledge of the truth. Our focus needs to remain on God. We pray
for wisdom, we ask for words of truth to speak, we trust in the
sovereignty of God, we seek His face and His will, and we share what
we have received from His hand. If it is rejected, it is not our
personal responsibility to keep shoving it down the throats of those
who are spitting it out. It is God, who will woo them with His
Spirit, and it is ultimately their choice to grasp it or throw it
away. God absolutely loves the entire world, for it is His creation,
and He has given the world the freedom through Christ to choose.
Prayer
Lord,
give us the wisdom and the words to speak, which will penetrate the
hearts of those who do not believe. Draw their hearts to you Jesus;
you came to seek and to save those who are lost. The world is your
creation and your love extends to all. Enable us to do your will as
we seek your face. We place them in your hands, and trust in you for
the results. Amen.
