Therefore
pride compassed them about as a chain; violence covered them as a
garment.
Psalm 73:6
When we
spend a great deal of time judging and criticizing others it usually
indicates a problem within ourselves. We just may be thinking more
highly of ourselves than we should. It’s easy to lose sight of the
source of our blessings and gifts, and become focused on what we have
achieved. The fact is, we excel only because God has given us the
talent and ability to do so. There are distinct and unique differences
in all of us, and they should be appreciated. We are all made and knit
perfectly together through Christ. Each person, and each gift,
regardless of how large or small the contribution may seem, are
essential to the working of the entire body. God is never pleased when
we are tearing one another down. We will only serve to make ourselves
vulnerable to the enemy, leaving the door open for him to bring
destructive things into our lives, as well as the lives of others. It
doesn’t matter what we are capable of doing, apart from God we
accomplish nothing.
Prayer
Examine
our hearts today Lord, we lay them open before you and ask that you
forgive us, for giving into pride, and thinking more of ourselves than
we should. We thank you for the gifts you have given to each of us.
They are placed perfectly within the body. Give us the wisdom to
appreciate and utilize each part so that together we may bring glory
to you. Amen.
