And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12: 9-10

Paul understood, that we continually need the power of the Holy Spirit actively working in our lives. We never reach a place, where we can live and accomplish anything worthwhile for God, without His grace. It is not in ourselves, but through His Spirit working in us, that produces what God desires us to be and to do. It was revealed to Paul, and he understood that he was merely a tool in the Master's hand. A hammer cannot build a house, it is the carpenter who builds the house, using the hammer. The hammer is merely a tool. We spend a great deal of time, attempting to figure out how the house should be built, instead of trusting that God, (our carpenter) is able to build us into the perfect house, with the perfect dimensions, and in the perfect time. We do not have the ability to make changes in our sinful nature; it is through God's divine nature that we are changed. We can attempt to make changes in our behavior and attitudes, and try to bury our sinful nature, but those changes are usually short lived. True lasting change, comes only through the Holy Spirit and produces true spirituality. When we understand that it is God's grace, and divine guidance we need to depend on, we become strong.

Prayer

Lord, it is truly all about you and not us. We surrender ourselves totally to you, remind us that you are the builder. Without your hand we can do nothing. Holy Spirit lead and guide us in all things, every hour of every day, for we need you. Amen.
