While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things, which are, seen are temporary, but the things, which are not seen, are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18

The world is certainly a busy place, which glitters with an appeal that attracts our attention and changes our focus from what is real and eternal to what will fade away. There is more to this life than the pleasures we seek. We don’t see reality we see the things and circumstance that surrounds us. Following God is choosing to follow what’s real and lasting. There is nothing in this world that can begin to compare with the eternal gifts and pleasures that God desires for our lives. Words can’t express the feeling of being in the presence of Almighty God, living in the security of His love, and receiving as heirs the benefits of His Kingdom. We can’t allow our focus to be swayed in exchange for temporary pleasure. Becoming absorbed with the world will lead us away from the lasting treasures that God desires to give.

Prayer

God you are real, your never-ending love gives us security, and in your presence we find a joy and peace that are beyond belief. There is nothing in this world worth exchanging for the gifts we have received from your hand. Forgive us when we the world absorbs our attention and we find ourselves getting caught up in the pleasures that fade away. You have placed us on this path; help us today to remain focused on our goal. In Jesus name, Amen.
