God Today Devotions
December 9, 2002

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures. James 1:16-18

Satan knows the word of God, and he certainly attempts to twist it and use it to his advantage. When Jesus was in the wilderness, Satan attempted to twist God's word. There are many today, who attempt to do the same, using the word of God to accommodate their personal agenda's. It is important, that we spend time, meditating on the word of God, and asking God for divine understanding. He will speak His truth to our hearts, and no one will be able to sway us from that truth. Sometimes it is easier to grasp for a partial truth, or believe a lie, than to face the truth. Jesus had to face the truth of the cross. He could not have taken a shortcut and still fulfilled the purpose of God for mankind. Each step was necessary and important. We can't compromise the truth with our impatience, nor back God into a corner, declaring that we have waited long enough, or that we don't agree with the way He is doing things. God has a purpose for each of our lives. His ways are perfect. He is never too late, never too early, but always perfectly on time.

Prayer

Forgive us, when we neglect to meditate on your word, and ask for divine understanding. Give us wisdom, and allow your truth to fill our hearts and minds. Give us patience, that we will not compromise the truth for a lie. Your ways are perfect and we trust the path you have placed us on. Amen.
