Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7

The devil is real, and he is constantly seeking to destroy lives. 1 Peter 5:8  This is a fact, regardless how fictional the world attempts to portray him. If we could see for a moment, out of the confines of our own dimension, and see what's really going on around us in the spirit realm, we would be astonished. We may at the same time, become very aware of all the things that we blame on the "devil", that he had absolutely nothing to do with. Too often we are quick to give him the credit for all the destructive things in our lives. While it is true that he has the ability and the desire, sometimes it is simply a result of our own poor choices. Being able to blame the devil helps us to evade confronting the possibility that we are the source of our problem. We inadvertdly ignore the gentle whispers of the Holy Spirit. We need to submit to God and allow Him to give us the wisdom and the ability to discern and resist our enemy and become aware of things that need to change in us.

Prayer

Lord, forgive us for ignoring the gentle whisper of your Holy Spirit, and giving so much credit to the enemy. Give us wisdom, reveal the things that need to change in us. Help us to make wise choices and to follow you. Amen.
