Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Psalm 51:12

It is useless for us to fight against God. When He asks us to do something, or tells us what is not good for us we must be willing to accept His will. We cannot formulate a willing spirit rather it is God who imparts it to us. Accepting His will without it being contingent on us agreeing with what He has requested of us, but trusting Him wholly and doing whatever He asks. He is the only one who can make us willing and when we finally come to this realization then we can stop our own futile efforts and learn to trust and rest in His ability. This does not mean we become lazy and do nothing but it reminds us that it is God's power that causes us to walk in obedience. He gives us the ability to desire Him and His will. He will sustain us in all of life's changing situations and through each experience in Him we will continue to stand.

Prayer

I ask you Lord to cleanse me and create in me a new heart and a willing spirit so that my heart and my soul longs to do you will. I depend on you to sustain me and to keep me standing strong. I long to be in your presence and I am trusting you with my life. Amen.
