For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.
Mark 10:45

People search many avenues to "find themselves". It seems everywhere we turn someone is talking about new ways for us to think and talk about ourselves. Seeking to serve self is like an infection that spreads and affects our relationships, marriages, families, as well as our business dealings. It seems harmless enough and presented in a manner that sounds almost essential. It affects our relationship with God and with others as well as ourselves. We want our relationships to work, we want to feel peace and contentment in our lives. We won't find it in seeking more pleasure for ourselves or seeking to find ourselves. The peace and contentment we so desperately seek, can be found in seeking to please and serve God first and in giving and serving others above ourselves. A philosophy that contradicts modern day thinking but a true one none the less.

Prayer

Lord Jesus we dedicate ourselves to your service. Direct our steps and give us the wisdom to follow your ways. At the center of your will and in your service is where we will find our heart's desire. Amen.
