We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Adversity is a constant companion to many. Sometimes the trouble is never ending. It is difficult to see the lasting benefits that are born from adversity. We see instead shattered dreams, a broken trust, a lonely life, tears instead of laughter and a future that does not seem bright. If we could take our eyes off of the situations we face and look instead, to see that in the midst of it all, God is performing some of His best work through the incredibly painful periods of our lives. If we could trust that the pain and the heartbreak will not serve to destroy us, but will instead strengthen our faith, build great character and cause us to be rooted firmly.  In trusting, we will discover, joy and peace in the midst of it all. The joy of being comforted by the hands of God Himself. If we never knew the pain, we would never fully come to appreciate the blessings. We don't have all the answers, but we can trust in One who does. God is good all the time, He is not cruel, but wise and He makes no mistakes.

Prayer

We place our trust in you. We don't see, we don't understand, we don't know why. When we can't imagine good coming from such pain, we trust that you are in control of every detail of our lives and we are safe in your hands. We receive the blessings as well as the adversity. We trust in your infinite wisdom and care. There is no greater comfort than what we find in your arms. You are good all the time and we thank you. Amen.
