Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Ephesians 6:10

Working hard and being dedicated to what God has called us to do is good. As a matter of fact it is great! But sometimes we can get so involved in what "we're doing for God" that we lose our perspective. What benefits and pleases us takes precedence over what pleases God. We lose our patience, our understanding and compassion and most importantly our love. We become frustrated and we may say and do what normally we wouldn't and actually shouldn't. The work we do for God is orchestrated by Him and for Him. It is His ability working through our lives that enables us to accomplish anything. We are representatives of Christ and should represent Him in truth and love; always. Losing our temper, or being careless with our words certainly does not promote the righteousness of God. Stepping back from a situation when we are feeling overwhelmed, and asking God for help and direction is wisdom. Sometimes it will require us to stop what we are doing and listen and wait for further instructions.

Prayer

It is all about you God. The work I do is from your hands. Remind me when I am feeling overwhelmed to find a quiet place and be alone with you. Help me to wait patiently for your voice and to obey. Forgive me when I become so frustrated that I take it out on others. I desire that my life reflect your love and truth more than anything else. Amen.
