God Today Devotions
Jesus said to him, "If you
want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you
will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." Christ lives within us every day, not simply on Sunday or when we gather with a particular group of people. In our trendy society today it is hard for many to remain true to themselves and their moral standards at all times. It's all too easy to bend a little so that they will "fit in". God does not require us to "fit in" He does however require us to follow the truth as we have been shown any less is unacceptable. Even within Church's there are those who compromise truth for money, status, or popularity. They give in to obtain a small thing now, enjoying a moment of satisfaction and all the while forfeiting their greatest treasure. It is quite possible that those faithfully standing in the shadows never having spoke or sang in huge auditoriums or for the most part never recognized will be just the ones who accomplished the most, simply because they remained true to themselves and their God. Their prayers and sacrifice's may never be seen or heard by men but they certainly have not gone unseen by God.
You are our Lord and in your
footsteps we desire to follow. Your yoke is not only easy but it is
sweet and enjoyable. Remind our hearts that nothing in this world can
compare to the treasures you are preparing. Help us to remain true
to what you are creating in us and not to compromise. Keep our hearts
from wavering. Amen.
