We may all have different ideas about what being successful is. Most would place emphasis on the outside appearance and the things that are easily noticed. We all like to present ourselves in the best possible light. What can be left undetected is the appearance of our hearts. It is the things that dwell inside; our thoughts motives, ambitions and values that create who we really are. If we want to obtain true success then the condition of our heart needs to be our greatest concern. It determines who we are, not just what we allow people to see. Our  hearts can be selfish and if neglected prone to turn their own direction. Sometimes we simply need to turn to God and allow Him to re-create our hearts and remove some things that hinder us from true success, allowing them to be held up under the scrutiny and light of God's word. Most everything associated with our lives and most certainly our relationship with God comes down to a matter of the heart.   

Prayer 

 I treasure your word, help me keep it always before me.  Guard my heart against itself and its selfish desires and ambitions.  Give me a clean heart.  As I struggle with the issues of this life I seek you and your wisdom to guide me through. Open my heart and reveal its true motives, with your skilled hand remove and replace what does not belong.  I desire to serve you with all my heart Amen.
