Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
Psalm 20:7

It is easy to say that if we were to accumulate a  great deal of wealth it would not change us, but inevitably it does. Something happens to a person when suddenly confronted with wealth. It  slowly begins to attach itself to our hearts and after time begins to take root, changing our perspective, our hopes and dreams. We have a responsibility to take extreme care of how we handle our finances. We will give an account for all that we have been given and how we have utilized it. The problems we run into are not the money itself but the effect the money has on our lives. When the money becomes more valuable and speaks more loudly than our integrity we may just have a problem, it is then that the love of money has become our love, our God, and when it is taken away we will be left without hope. During the great depression people threw themselves out of windows because their love and their life was the money. If the love of money takes root in our heart it eventually will replace all that we truly treasure. A poor substitute for a moment of satisfaction. God says to us, follow my ways, listen to my voice, and do what I say and all that we could ever need and more than we can ever imagine will be ours.

Prayer

Thank you for the blessings you have brought to our lives. You provide all that we need, You are our hope. Give us wisdom to handle our finances and to follow your ways. Remind us of that you are the source of our blessings. Our eyes are focused on you and our purpose in this life is to bring glory, and honor to your name. Deliver us from the love of money. Amen.
