It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.
Lamentations 3:26

The relationship we establish with Jesus takes time. Yes, when we accept His sacrifice we are saved, but that is only the beginning of our relationship that begins in this life and will last throughout eternity. Knowing Him is a constant process that grows over time and becomes more intimate as we spend more time in His presence. Taking the time to simply be still. For most it is difficult especially when there are so many things available to occupy our time and our thoughts. As a result of our busy schedules and lifestyles we try to hurry in His presence and choke down a quick spiritual meal, very similar to running through a McDonalds and grabbing a burger and fries. Not only is it quick but it does not give the nourishment that our bodies need. We get the same results when we go into God's presence looking for fast food. The intimate relationship we desire takes time, we have to be willing to take small bites, enjoying each one , and allowing it to bring nourishment to our souls. Intimacy comes from entering his presence in peace not with the hassles of our day, expecting a quick reply as we our on our way out the door. If we hurry into His presence more than likely we will hurry out empty of the nourishment and intimacy we desired in the first place.

Prayer

Forgive me for rushing into your presence, and the times that I attempt to squeeze you in my schedule instead of making being with you a priority. I desire to have an intimate relationship with you and to know your will for every step I take in my life. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to know you and for desiring to have a relationship with me. Help me to slow down and quietly learn from you and more of you. Amen.
