God Today Devotions

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
Ecclesiastes 3:1

There are hundreds of time saving devices that make our life easier and give us more time, and still most of us would welcome more hours in the day. Worrying about how much we can or will accomplish in our day brings on anxiety and stress. As a result we rush from one place to the next trying to squeeze as much as possible into our day. This scripture is so beautiful and has a very healing message for us about time. God provides time for everything of real importance. The trouble is we allow the unnecessary things to dominate our time and we find ourselves exhausted and empty at the days end. As a result we become too tired to enjoy relationships with family and friends, to take a moment and lend an ear or a hand to someone in need, or to just sit back and relax and enjoy the beauty of the day. We end up losing control of our day and being controlled by it.  God's word explains to us that everything has a season, so we need to relax and realize that some things just don't happen in the midst of a rush or according to our packed schedules. We will end up missing the truly important things and possibly a beautiful thing that is appointed for just that time.

Prayer

Help me to slow down and to arrange my priorities in their proper order. I don't want to miss one thing that you have planned for my day. Give me wisdom to distinguish between what is important and to remember that my number one priority is pleasing you regardless of whatever else comes my way today. Amen.
