Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:23-24

What ails us the most, is not always evident, even to us. When we experience aches and pains in our physical bodies, we don’t hesitate to contact our Doctor and seek relief. We spend a great deal of time and money caring for our physical bodies, which will eventually decay. Yet, year after year we suffer with hearts that are ailing, bruised and diseased, and spirits that are weak and sickly. Our spirits will live on forever; and caring for them is of greater importance than our physical bodies. We need to be honest and open with God, allowing Him to do some soul cleansing, searching deep within, healing the wounds, and removing the infection that is turning our hearts away from their eternal destiny. We may be able to put on a good front hiding our condition from others, but God sees all. If we will honestly turn to Him and repent, He will change our hearts. He is the Lord that heals all of our diseases, including those that infect our souls.

Prayer

Lord, I open my heart and surrender all that is within to You; there are things that have been hidden deep within my heart for years. They have festered and become infected. Remove all that is not pleasing to You Lord. Heal the wounds, remove the disease and replace it with a clean heart.
