Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
Psalm 51:6

People naturally have a tendency to work on their “image”, in order to receive a favorable response from others. We all desire to be accepted and loved. Politicians and Hollywood Stars will many times hire professional image consultants, who reshape their appearance and attitudes, to present an image that is acceptable, and will gain them the recognition they desire. Somewhere in all the “image building” integrity, character, and respect are lost. It is much easier and less stressful, to simply be ourselves. Being exactly who Jesus Christ is creating us to be. A life of facades eventually leads to a life of lies and deception. It is not an image consultant that we need, but wisdom to be true to ourselves and true to God. We can make excuses and rationalize what we are doing, but God’s perception is not affected by the images we try to present. He sees past all of it and into the depths of our souls.

Prayer

Lord, we desire Your approval, let the image of your son Jesus Christ be the image that is reflected in all that we do and say. Give us wisdom to live in Your truth being true to ourselves. In Jesus name we ask. Amen.
