Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7

The devil is real. He is constantly seeking to destroy lives. This is a fact, not fiction. I believe one of his greatest deceptions is, attempting to make us believe he does not exist. If we were given a brief moment to see beyond the confines of our own elements and see what is really going on around us in the spirit realm, we would be astonished. While we acknowledge his existence, we need to acknowledge as well that he is defeated, Jesus saw to that. For all the havoc he causes, sometimes we are quick to give him credit for things he hasn’t done. If we can blame the devil, we don’t have to take credit for the destructive things in our lives which we have caused, as a result of our own poor choices. Sometimes we are the source of our problems and blaming the devil, gives us just the excuse we need, to continue to ignore the gentle whispers of the Holy Spirit. The only power our enemy has over us, is what we give to him.

Prayer

Lord, we come before you today, asking that you give us wisdom and the ability to discern and resist the enemy. Holy Spirit, we are listening, speak truth to our hearts, and reveal the areas in our lives that need changing. Forgive us for using the devil as a way to evade the fact, many of our problems are of our own making. You have conquered our enemy and placed him under our feet. Strengthen our faith and help us to stand firm. We submit to Your authority today, and ask that you continue to teach and guide us, in Jesus name, Amen.
