Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts, and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139:23-24

There is more to life than looking good. We place so much on outward appearances but that  is certainly not what makes us valuable. The true value of a person lies within. God sees both the good and the bad that no one else may be able to observe. We don't hesitate to dress in the latest fashion and strut through the Mall, a restaurant or church. We are not ashamed and are even hopeful that we will be seen and admired. Would we have the same kind of confidence if are thoughts and our hearts were exposed for all to see as plainly as the clothes we wear. The things we do to impress other people don't impress God. While they may evaluate us by external things God is searching in the dark and hidden areas that are damaged and in need of repair. He is aware of our strengths and weakness. He is constantly making the un-noticed places strong enough to handle the stress and storms that may lie ahead.

Prayer

Lord you know my every thought and my words before I even speak them. Search out the hidden places that no one sees and if there be anything unpleasing to you remove it. It is you who I desire to impress and to please with my life. You know the good and the bad in me and I pray you will continue working on both the obvious and the hidden parts of my life. Amen.
