The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon
him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him; he also
will hear their cry, and will save them.
Psalm 145:18-19
We so many times view our prayer time as a chore or obligation instead
of something we anticipate and enjoy. We dedicate a certain amount
of time and try to plan out and sometimes even write out all that we
desire to say to God during the time we have allotted. Prayer is not
about the words we speak but about the relationship with the One to whom
we are speaking; it is simply a conversation with God. He doesn't expect
us to try to impress Him with poetic words but to speak to Him sincerely
from our heart. Prayers of the heart are the most effective.
Adam and Eve walked with God in the cool of the day; they enjoyed his
company and conversation. Through Christ we also have the ability
to enjoy the company and presence of God and to make ourselves available
to listen when He speaks to our hearts throughout our day. We can count
on Him to be faithful to always hear and always answer when we speak to
Him. Our relationship with God grows deeper and stronger the more
that we communicate and converse with Him.
Prayer
Thank you Lord for allowing me the opportunity to step into your
presence and to speak with you throughout my day. I know that you
always hear and always answer the prayers from my heart, by faith I
believe and receive your help, your wisdom, and your comfort. I come
into your presence today desiring to spend time with you; enjoying your
company, and desiring to strengthen and deepen my relationship with you.
All I ever need or desire is found in You. Amen.
