Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Colossians 2:8

Well presented words can paint a beautiful picture that is tempting to grasp but can be a distortion of the truth. Mankind tends to create philosophies and hold onto traditions not necessarily based on the truth of Jesus Christ. Jesus reveals His truth to us and teaches us His ways. We are surrounded every day by empty philosophies that's teachings are absolutely opposite from the teaching of Christ. We have a responsibility to recognize the voice of our Shepherd. Just because words are spoken does not necessarily make them true. When we receive a revelation from Jesus it pierces our soul. No words no matter how well presented can distort or sway us from that truth.

Prayer

As I walk day by day following your truth my perspective remains clear. You are my shepherd. Teach me to listen for the sound of your voice. You are faithful and in your word I place my trust.

Amen.
