![]() ![]() Daily Devotion January 23, 2002 And be found in him, not having
mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through
the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. When Jesus spoke He spoke with authority and confidence, even though the Scribes and the Pharisees questioned Him about everything. He always replied to their questions specifically and directly. His goal was not to gain popularity but to speak the truth. Although He made enemies with His truthful words there were many more whose hearts and lives were hungry for the truth He was speaking. He didn't speak flattery, and many times the things He spoke seemed harsh, but they always benefited those who were truly listening. They received a message of hope, redemption and grace, not of spiritual credentials and appeasing words. We can become so proud of our pastors or church or ministry and what we are doing that we forget what it is all about. It is not all what we are doing, and what we want, It’s about Jesus and His righteousness.. Apart from Him we are nothing. It is His truth that speaks to the heart of those listening not our extravagant programs and greatly built churches or flattering words, but the pure and simple truth of God. Prayer Jesus it is all about You. Remind me when I get so wrapped up in what I am doing, that it is only your righteousness dwelling in me that enables me to accomplish anything. You must take first place in my life. In Your mercy you have saved and redeemed my soul, in your truth I walk; let it guide each step I take. In your name I ask. Amen.
