Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering.
Hebrews 10:23

So much of the time we allow ourselves to be controlled by our society and our actions dictated by the world around us. We may not even realize it and before we know it we are playing the game. There is always something to attract our attention and cause us to become focused on what is not real or eternal. As the old adage goes "The squeaky wheel gets the oil." There certainly are plenty of screaming wheels. We can't allow the screams of those wheels to distract us from the journey that has been set before us. There is more to this life than the pleasures we seek. If we will choose to follow the Spirit of God we will discover immeasurable love that never ends, a peace that sustains in any situation, joy that we cannot even speak with words. What in this world can compare to the pure and eternal gifts and pleasures that God has for us. The world is full of busyness and noise, it glitters and is appealing to our eyes; but the light of all of it fades and eventually the flame is extinguished. The light of Jesus Christ that lives inside of us is inextinguishable.

Prayer

Thank you Lord for all that you have been given. I am thankful for the gifts I have received from your hand. All that is good and pure and true comes from you. Forgive me when I am so easily caught up in the pleasures that fade. You will is my goal on this journey, help me to remain focused on my goal.

Amen.
